AI Policy
At JURNAL ILMIAH PENDIDIKAN SCHOLASTIC, we welcome technological advancements, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI), to improve the efficiency and quality of the article submission and publication processes. However, we remain committed to upholding scientific integrity and ensuring that published articles reflect authenticity, honesty, and academic responsibility.
1. The Use of AI in Manuscript Preparation
We recognize that artificial intelligence can serve as a supplementary tool in writing and editing manuscripts, such as for:
- Drafting: Using AI tools to brainstorm ideas, structure the manuscript, or assist authors in phrasing sentences and paragraphs.
- Editing and Proofreading: Utilizing AI tools to check grammar, spelling, and fluency, as well as to ensure formatting aligns with journal guidelines.
- Reference Organization: Employing AI tools for automated reference management, citation formatting, and bibliography generation.
However, manuscripts submitted to the journal must continue to reflect the author's original intellectual contribution. Authors hold full responsibility for the manuscript's originality and quality, as well as for avoiding all forms of plagiarism, whether generated by a human or by artificial intelligence.
2. Disclosure of AI Use
If authors use AI tools to assist in writing or editing their manuscript, this must be clearly stated within the article. Authors are required to disclose the use of AI technology in the introduction or an acknowledgment section, specifying:
- The type of AI tool(s) used.
- The specific sections of the manuscript drafted or reviewed with AI assistance.
- The human role in verifying and editing the AI-generated output.
The purpose of this disclosure is to maintain transparency in publication and ensure that published articles comply with prevailing academic ethical standards.
3. The Use of AI in the Peer Review Process
We permit reviewers to use AI tools to assist in the review process, particularly for:
- Plagiarism Detection: Using AI software to identify plagiarism and ensure the submitted manuscript is an original work without unauthorized copying from other sources.
- Data Screening: AI may be used to help reviewers analyze data presented in the manuscript, especially when it involves large or complex datasets.
However, the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript will always be made by a competent human reviewer in the respective field. The use of AI in peer review is not intended to replace human judgment but rather to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
4. Ethics of AI Use
- Authenticity and Honesty: Authors and reviewers must ensure that the manuscript and the review process do not rely on AI to generate unauthorized work, fabricated analysis, or anything that could be considered a form of academic fraud.
- AI Misuse: Using AI to manipulate the system—such as submitting an article entirely generated by a machine without genuine contribution from a human author—is a direct violation of our journal's ethics. Such manuscripts will be rejected, and the authors may face sanctions in accordance with editorial policy.
- Transparency Policy: We encourage all authors and reviewers to maintain transparency at every stage involving AI technology and to consistently provide proper attribution if AI is utilized in the preparation or review of a manuscript.
5. Policy Updates
As AI technology continues to evolve, we will consistently monitor and update this policy to ensure we remain aligned with the latest developments in the field and uphold the journal's scientific integrity. All policy changes will be communicated to our authors and reviewers.
6. Impact on Copyright and Licensing
Although AI may be used in manuscript preparation, the copyright remains with the author of the article. The use of AI will not alter the copyright status or the license granted by the author to the journal, and published articles will remain subject to the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
7. Responsibilities of Authors and Reviewers
- Authors are responsible for ensuring that their articles contain no plagiarism, whether committed by a human or AI.
- Reviewers are expected to use AI technology judiciously to assist them in assessing article quality, without compromising objectivity and fairness in the review process.
